Developers Ørsted and Eversource choose Nexans for cable supply contract for a 704MW offshore wind farm to be built off the coast of the United States. Named Revolution, the plant will deliver 304MW to Connecticut and 400MW to Rhode Island.
The project’s construction will take place 24km away from Rhode Island and 51.4km off Connecticut. This is enough to power over 350,000 houses.
The cables to be provided by Nexans will connect Revolution to the grid onshore.
Construction will start in 2023, while full operations are scheduled for 2025. Revolution will avoid the emission of almost one million metric tons of carbon emissions.
